Pendleton Area Saddle Club Events
The Pendleton Area Saddle Club offers members a variety of events and activities throughout the year. We ride and camp a good bit, but we also believe in giving back to our community and fellowship with good food and great people. Our events are family-friendly and safe. You won’t find a better group to spend time with than the great people who are members of PASC. If you’d like to join us for an event to see if the club would be a good fit for you and your family, please reach out.
Trail Riding and Camping
The club schedules both day rides and camping trips throughout the year. There are some regular trips that we commit to each year. For example, we camp and have work days several times a year at Whetstone in Mountain Rest, SC. The club also participates in the American Heart Association’s Heart Ride in Myrtle Beach, SC every November. Our other trips vary from year to year. We hold a planning meeting in January of each year to set the annual calendar and all members are encouraged to participate in planning the year’s rides.
Trail Stewardship
We do our best to leave trails in better condition than we found them in. We encourage riders to clip back as they trail ride and we work as a team to clear blocked trails. Several of our members are certified sawyers with the USFS which makes trail work days even easier. The club dedicates several workdays a year to helping to maintain the Rocky Gap trail system near Whetstone Horse Camp. We are very proud of the work we’ve done at Rocky Gap in conjunction with the USFS including general trail and trash cleanup, building and installing benches and hitching posts at the lunch areas, building and installing mounting blocks for Whetstone, repair of the culvert area of Big Island crossing, donation and installation of trail signage, and procuring of trail maintenance equipment for the forestry service to use. Much of that work was done with the use of horses and pack mules.
Community-Centered Events
PASC loves to give back to the community. One of our favorite days of the year is spent with the Rainbow Gang of Anderson County. We provide horseback rides and lunch for their special needs population. There’s no better feeling than the pure joy of helping people connect with horses. PASC members also volunteer once a year to run a CHSA show. This is a great opportunity to support other local equestrians while fundraising for the club. We also do quarterly trash pickups for the roads surrounding T. Ed Garrison Arena near Clemson. Many of our members participate in the American Heart Association’s Heart Ride in Myrtle Beach, SC by riding with Team Noah. Team Noah was created in honor of a grandson of two of our members. In 2012, Noah underwent life saving heart surgery as a newborn.
Fun Fellowship
Simply put, you won’t find a better group of people than the ones who belong to PASC. We love to hang out - whether it’s on the trail, around the campfire, at a restaurant, at our annual picnic, or at our Christmas party. Many of our members have developed life-long friendships with other club members and, when you join PASC, you’ll quickly find there are a lot of ‘unofficial’ events to get involved with like Christmas parades, obstacle play dates, day rides, and extra camping trips. Come join the fun!
